Well thats me all done and dusted for the day. A reasonably early finish. It's good to have a bit more time to relax.
Had a nice soak in the bath, foam rollered my legs, creamed and massaged my feet....I might even go out boogieing!!....perhaps not.
Getting close to home. Off to Flyford Flavell tomorrow .

The Old Mill
It was really nice having Sue stay over last night. The cottage was lovely.
Sue and I walked together for the first 4 miles this morning. It was then just me, 'back on my lonesome'.
The weather is much cooler which is good. Hot weather is for lying on the beach, definitely NOT for distance walking.
It is hilly again but I do like wandering up and down the valleys. My legs would argue otherwise but it is good for the soul.

A Roman Motorway
Most of my journey today has been on the Fosse Way. About 17 miles in a dead straight line, they certainly new how to build roads.
It got me thinking about the roman soldiers and there 'marches'. They pretty much did 20 to 25 miles a day but carrying way more weight than me. And then, it wasn't feet up and rest, they either had to 'dig in' or fight a battle! They were tough in those days.
I am meeting Sue in Tetbury where we have a cottage for the night. It will be nice to have a 'normal' night. Sue is then going to walk part of the way with me in the morning.

An unexpected surprise
I hadn't expected to find anywhere for a cup of tea today until I came across Fosse Farmhouse.
http://www.fossefarmhouse.com
I had a cream tea....2 freshly baked scones which were still warm, clotted cream and lashings of damson jam. I like to put the cream on first and then the jam .
The owner was very chatty and I asked her what was the protocol around here......She said that it was very important to put the jam on first, this then insulates the cream from the warm scones. So now you know!
She asked me where I was going so I told her my story. On leaving she gave me a ginormous slice of Victoria Sponge for my journey.
A very very nice lady.

This one is for Vicky
Vicky loves horses and this is real horsey country.
I am in South Gloucestershire and Badminton is just down the road. It's a very pretty area and I can see why the Royals live here.

Toll Bridge
They were currently charging cars 70 pence.. Walkers were free.
Not so in the old days I would have been charged a halfpenny. Probably a lot of money in those days!

Life on the Canal
I have a short stretch of canal out of Bath.
I wouldn't want to live on a boat all of the time, but I can see the charm.
This guy had his fire going and I could smell the Bacon and Eggs as I approached.
